Abstract

In this paper we aim to describe and analyze in a very preliminary way some common verbal structures and uses in basic sentences of the indigenous dialect Pykobjê-Gavião (Macro-Jê Branch, Jê Family, Timbira Group). To develop this research, we take mainly the following references: Simon C. Dik (1997), Thomas E. Payne (1997) and Paul Schachter (2007). Following Payne (1997, p. 47), we will observe the distributional and structural properties of verbs, which can occur as head of a verbal phrase (VP) and as head of an adjective-verbal predicate. Then,
we will discuss some types of verbs: active intransitive verb, state intransitive verb, process intransitive verb, extended intransitive verb, simple transitive verb and extended transitive verb. Finally, we will observe and analyze some tense and aspectual verbal operators.
