Abstract

In this article I present the expression of perfectivity in Southern Kaingang (Ge) with the markers mũ and ja. In this language, Aspect is a non-deictic grammatical category, and there is distinction between Perfectivity and Imperfectivity. The Perfective points out to the event as a whole, its end point or the perspective of its conclusion.. Constructions in Future tense can occur marked by perfectivity. In this case, semantics nuances can be observed, which depend on the marker utilized as the perfective mũ and ja produce different readings in constructions with future perspective.
