Abstract

Since 2020, the Welcoming Through Languages Group has been working in a variety of contexts supporting the reception of crisis migrants in Campinas and the surrounding region. One of the group's most prolific fields of activity since 2021 is an Early Childhood Education Centre in Barão Geraldo, where the Group has been translating and interpreting mostly in Haitian Creole. In order to explore the meanings of diversity and the possibilities for operationalizing intercultural welcoming in the context, this article draws on two excerpts from interviews conducted with the CEI's pedagogical advisor and the Group's Haitian Creole translator-interpreter generated for the dissertation of the author of this article, taking Indisciplinary Applied Linguistics (Moita-Lopes, 2006) as a perspective and narrative as a theoretical-methodological apparatus (Bastos; Biar, 2015; Fabrício, 2006).
