This paper briefly analyses some elements of In-Yer-Face (IYF) theatre, a theatrical movement created in the 1990s in Britain, which was written by a young generation of dramatists born and raised in the conservative and oppressive Thatcher-era. Violent and radical, overtly political or not, this theatre deeply shocked its audiences and critics. Nonetheless, IYF would be greatly acclaimed by younger audiences, and would influence the following generations with its extremely radical themes and formal and scenic innovations. Beyond its immediate extreme violence, this new theatre would reveal the intrinsic world perception of a generation who lived, since its very birth, the obscure background of neoliberalism, individualism and expanding globalization.
