Abstract

This article proposes to show different expressions in Brazil in order to make references to the comic strips, a set of genres tied to comics. Nationally, other terms are used as strip, comic strip, daily strip, journalistic strip, newspaper strip, little comic strip, among other possibilities. This tendency occurs even in research conducted in the Linguistic studies. This text starts with the premise that it is a unique application of the definition of genre proposed by Bahktin, that are “relatively stable types of utterances”. In this case, there is a stable genre, which seeks to present an outcome of humor, like a joke, but with instability in the form how its name is represented.
