Abstract

In this article, we aim to identify and analyze the discursive strategies used in speeches of printed media, specially the magazines Veja and Istoé, to approach the disarmament-2005, and reveal in what way(s) they do their speeches. Based on the theoretical assumptions of discourse analysis derived from Pêcheux and Foucault’s theory and some scholars of the media, we analyzed six fragments from the body of our master’s research. In Foucault’s theory, the media also prevents the free flow of speech, whose production is eventually controlled and selected. Thus, these speeches gain legitimacy when rendered by the media. The speech is the instance in which conflicts resistance, power relations and knowledge raise.
