This paper offers an analysis of the development of the scheme [supondo_que [oração finita]]. The main goal is to identify the micro-steps of construcional changes and posterior constructionalization that lead to the emergence of the conditional meaning. This paper describes the sub-schemas that give rise to this construction in Portuguese, with special attention to the metaphors that are essential to its formation, and explains the network reconfiguration due to the accommodation of this new type of construction. This paper follows after the Theory of Constructionalization and Constructional Changes (TRAUGOTT; TROUSDALE, 2013).Downloads
