Abstract

Through this article, we present a review of the research that we carried out on the toponymy of the Quirinópolis Microregion, in the South of Goiás. To that end, we are guided by the theoretical-methodological principles of Toponymy, especially the Dick’s contributions (1990, 1992) and the methodological procedures used in the scope of the ATEMS Project - Toponymic Atlas of the Mato Grosso do Sul State. The toponymic data allowed us to uncover social, linguistic, cultural, historical and geographical particularities of the studied universe, thus demonstrating the influence of aspects related to the environment and the people who occupy or occupied the geographical space.
