Dialogic Interactivity in the use of a smart whiteboard

Abstract

The aim of this paper work is to analyze the practices of an English language teacher, from the tertiary sector in a city in the state of Sao Paulo, in an attempt to develop dialogic tea IWB (Interactive Whiteboard) and the internet. It was observed that in the teacher-learner-IWB interaction, the instrumentalist view of interactivity, which implies physical interaction with the use ofa mouse for instance, not necessarily impacts decisions made with respect to the direction and paths taken in class, these decisions are based on dialogue and interaction processes that occur, anchored by the IWB. These processes of dialogic interactivity seem to give voice to learners towards a teaching paradigm in which students come to play an active role in the process of teaching and learning.
