Abstract

This article shows that the textual and discursive genre are determined by its social
function. We used an advertisement made by São Paulo. Ação Comunitária which aims at taking abandoned children from streets and give them education. In order to uncover the underlying messages that pervade the advertising discourse, campaigns of this nature can become teaching tools for reflection on the prevailing ideology and even to break the dominant hegemony nowadays.
