Simple and complex constructions on lexical reduplication in a group of Pano languages: a briefly characterization of its derivational iconicity

This paper presents a basic comparative study about some morphological reduplicative functions on five Pano languages: Kashibo-Kakataibo, Matis, Matsés, Shipibo-Konibo and Yawanawa. Based upon published works by researchers of these languages, the semantic property of categories, such as iterative aspect as well as intensity and totality-plurality, are described. The morphological constructions are derived from verbs, nouns, adjectives and adverbs, and form words of the same lexical class. Derivational iconicity degree of the functions is described. We briefly analyze the Pano verbal reduplication based on the implicational parameters of this hierarchy, according to typological-reduplicative hierarchy (KAJITANI, 2005).
