This paper analyzes the distinction between what we call affective and grammatical prosody based on ExProsodia software. We extracted parameters related to the production of affective and grammatical prosody and compared the results obtained between subjects with schizophrenia and subjects in the control group, these divided by the gender variable (male and female). Data extracted from 15 samples of patients with schizophrenia (2 females and 4 males) and 30 samples of subjects in the control group (15 males and 15 females), collected on the Youtube website of people who did not present any evident psychosis, were analyzed. The comparison between the use of grammatical and affective intonation showed that the relationship between them is statistically different between subjects in the male control group and patients with schizophrenia (p<0.001) and partially similar between subjects in the female control group and the patients with schizophrenia (p<0.05). The results indicate that they are partially similar between subjects in the control group (p<0.05). To test this second result, we observed that male individuals produce more parameters related to grammatical function than the female group (2.43 > 1.95), which allowed us to differentiate the samples. It is important to emphasize that more research is needed to explain these intonation singularities.
