Abstract

The aim of this study is to create a bilingual electronic glossary, which is based on corpora of cooking recipes either in Portuguese and French. This research is based on Lexical-grammar theory, in order to analyze the sentences extracted from the corpora. Two imprinted dictionaries are taken as reference – Le Robert Micro (1998) and Dicionário de Usos do Português do Brasil (2002) – and another one titled Trésor de la Langue Française Informatisé, which can be accessed on web. However, some problems of clarity and objectivity were found in terms of equivalence criteria, which could make them inefficient for the dictionary user. This problem regarding equivalence was the motivation for this study. As a result, this glossary is expected to cover efficiently a larger range of equivalences as an electronic language tool.
