Língua e luta de classes: o Dread Talk como registro sociolinguístico de resistência

Este artigo discute o Dread Talk como registro sociolinguístico de resistência na Jamaica. Articulando estudos marxistas e linguístico-antropológicos, o estudo adota uma perspectiva de análise em que a língua(gem) é concebida como prática social inseparável de condições materiais e ideológicas. Emergente no movimento Rastafari, o Dread Talk transforma o inglês e o crioulo jamaicanos por meio de diacríticos como a ressignificação semântica (atribuição de novos sentidos a palavras existentes, como Babylon para “Estado opressor”), os overstandings (inovações morfológicas que invertem valores negativos, como overstand em lugar de understand), a I-formation (generalização do pronome I [eu], como marca de coletividade e espiritualidade) e o fenômeno positivo-negativo (rejeição de termos associados a “morte” ou “inferno”). Essas inovações gramaticais e pragmáticas funcionam como comentários reflexivos que rejeitam valores coloniais e projetam alternativas de vida coletiva e espiritualizada. Conclui-se que o Dread Talk constitui uma prática comunicativa decolonial que pode ser lida à luz da sociolinguística da esperança, oferecendo gramáticas de vida diante da necropolítica e abrindo perspectivas comparativas para outros registros de resistência.
