Abstract

From the metalexicography standpoint, this paper aims to discuss the classification
of Brazilian Portuguese pronominal verbs. Beginning with the introduction of general notions of lexicography, metalexicography, and the notion of pronominal verb, it presents an overview of the history of the lexicographical activities, especially those developed in Brazil. This study highlights a comparison of three dictionaries, the way these verbs are treated by these works. In this way, the contribution of these lexicographical works for the description of pronominal verbs class can be estimated.
