Abstract

This paper deals with the word order and some morphosyntatic aspects of Kaingáng dialect from Icatu village in São Paulo, located near the city of Braúna. The Kaingáng teachers of this village say that there are some differences between the dialect of Icatu and the one from the South of the country. This study intends to show the predominant word order of the dialect of Icatu and the grammatical and lexical marks that are still present in it in relation to Time, Aspect and Mode categories, by comparing it with the dialect spoken in the South.
