Abstract

This article aims to present results of a research which has as focus the investigation on the dialogical relations characterized by discursive polemics. The polemics could be seen and the data could be collected by watching the chat show Roda Viva which interviews scientists and exhibts comments from the audience, sometimes deflecting the interviewee’s discourse. From the Bakhtinian perspective, we will consider the chat show aired on 14th December 1987, which had the political scientist Herbert de Souza as a guest. The results indicate the formation of an open controversy due to the indirect speech and the use and naming of concessive connective, whereas the veiled controversy is composed of two contrastive voices of a single scientific
subject of analysis.
