This work aims at analyzing the contributions that can be made by Mikhail M.
Bakhtin’s reflections (1986) to the teaching of grammar in schools. Bakhtin’s philosophical considerations may support a productive work with grammar in schools because it claims that the interaction can be understood as the center of pedagogical concern with language. Thus, it points the need for a reflection on prescriptive grammar as a function of interlocution, the real use of language, and what is unkown about language. Every time the teacher is requested to talk
about his work, he reveals apprehension in having to abandon the teaching of grammar, which to him is still the guarantee of student’s success when applying for public jobs and entrance examinations. In this work, we intend to discuss ways to teach grammar as a collaborative means for social interaction.
