Abstract

This paper aims at studying the morphophonological structure of verb forms in Archaic Portuguese (AP). The corpus consists of Cantigas de Santa Maria (CSM), which represent a
more elaborate monument of literary importance and occupy a privileged place in the medieval Galician-Portuguese literature. From the mapping of all verb forms occurring in the corpus, it
is possible to categorize the data into types, considering the presence of specific processes, and setting up the morphological context of its application. This categorization is done in order to
identify the phonological processes which are triggered by verbal inflection in the archaic period of the language.
