Abstract

This paper presents a study on the morphosyntactic behavior of the universal quantifier todos in Brazilian Portuguese, more specifically, it is about the agreement pattern presented by
this quantifier in relation to pre and post nominal order in which it is performed. It is assumed that the order in which the quantifier is found after the DP, is not a product of movement, but the result of quantifier adjunction to the DP projection, which is similar to the adjunction of adjectives in nominal phrases. We argue that the orders [Q DP] and [DP Q] are realizations of different syntactic constituents. The first realization is a QP that selects DP, and the second one
is a DP that presents a quantifier phrase.
