Abstract

As the Brazilian popular music is an important representation of our culture, many studies have been performed in order to investigate, analyze and evaluate our repertoire. In this context, we intend to present a dialogical and discursive study, on the role played by the discursive gender in the formation of the imaginary of the city of São Paulo in the popularmusic from the first half of the twentieth century. From the dialogical theories of Bakhtin Circle, we will observe the discursive constitution of the imaginary, which is related to the city of São Paulo in popular music.
