This paper aims to present and discuss the lexicographic structure applied in the process of compiling an encyclopedic dictionary of the new coronavirus. The planning of the resource follows the lead of studies that look into Cognitive Semantics for theoretical and methodological insights for dictionary build. The concepts of encyclopedic knowledge, domain, and frame are used to help to design the work’s access structure, its three different microstructures, and to select the informational elements present in the dictionary. The domain SAÚDE [health] is used to illustrate the issues discussed along the paper. Contributions form Cognitive Semantics to Lexicography are highlighted mainly related to the relationship between linguistic and encyclopedic information, so much needed to the task of describing the lexicon of the pandemics in the digital information era.
