The genre concept in academic writing and in Portuguese language school books

This research results from investigations carried out by the Research and Reading
Group on Writing Production and Psychoanalysis - GEPPEP - of Faculty of Education at USP and by the Research Group on Writing and Singularity - ESSI - of Department of Languages at UFRN. In this paper, we intend to answer the following question: how does a researcher appropriate the use of a concept in his writing? In order to answer this question, we analyse master dissertations and Portuguese language schoolbooks, in which we search for characteristics that will allow us to
know how the concept of discourse genre is appropriated.
