Abstract

From the process of grammatization (Auroux, 1992) of the Brazilian Portuguese aimed to speakers of other languages, it is possible to analyze, from a historical and cultural perspective, the representations inserted in the use of the Brazilian pronominal system in its most widespread linguistic tool: the textbook. Initially, the objective of this paper is to show how personal pronouns used in Brazil are dealt with in three textbooks intended for foreigners and up to what extent they
testimony a linguistic reality (hiperlíngua) similar to their speakers use. This paper will examine how the conservative and innovative elements of the Brazilian standard language are present in a likely application of a communicative description of these pronouns in both formal and informal situations.
